Golf in the Dominican Republic

With some of the most reasonable green fees found on anywhere in the world, golf in the Dominican Republic is becoming one of the fastest growing sports (aside from Kite Surfing...) in the county.  The closest courses to the Puerto Plata area are the Playa Dorado golf course and the Playa Grande golf course. 2 other courses have planned for the area, but as yet construction has yet to start.

 

 

Playa Dorado Golf Course

The course is flat conditioned, with exceptional greens, and surrounds the Playa Dorada Resort Complex in Puerto Plata.

The course offers 18 holes of challenging, 72 par golf in the lush Caribbean tropical surrounding the Dominican Republic offers, surrounded by the amenities and comfort of a dozen-plus beach resorts, casinos, beaches, restaurants... Playa Dorada resorts is 15 minutes distance from the International Airport of Puerto Plata (POP).

Playa Grande Golf Course

Playa Grande Golf Course, completed in 1997, is located on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic, straddling the towns of Rio San Juan and Cabrera.

The golf course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, cut into the cliffs over the sea and includes 12 oceanfront holes. Underground springs supply abundant fresh water, and the neighboring land is small farms and forest.
